Pocket PC Software Helps Drivers Keep an Eye on Traffic

How many times have you found yourself stuck in a traffic jam, construction zone, or even a blizzard, and wished you could have seen the road conditions up ahead before you got there?  Radio reports and roadside signs are all well and good, but all too often you're already caught up in a problem before you hear about it.

Traffic Vizzion (pronounced “vision”) makes it possible to keep an eye on the road ahead by bringing live images from thousands of traffic cameras located across North America and the UK to your cell phone or Pocket PC.  And, uniquely, if you have a built-in or external GPS , Traffic Vizzion patent pending technology can automatically show cameras near to your current location, or along the road directly ahead of you, long before you get there!

Traffic Vizzion can save you time, money and frustration by quickly answering questions such as:

 “Which route is least congested?”

“Are those radio reports/roadside displays up-to-date?”

“What's causing this jam?”

“How bad are weather conditions on my route?”

“Will taking the toll road / expressway save me time?”

“Is there an accident up ahead I should slow down for?”

Traffic Vizzion can be used by commuters, business travelers, long-haul drivers, delivery drivers, vacationers, or anyone who needs to see road conditions ahead of time.  And it costs just pennies a day!

London Calling mobile phone

London Calling mobile phoneOne man. One basement. One crazy idea. They said it couldn't be done. Some said it shouldn't be done. But now it's ready. Presenting the London Calling mobile phone - the first telephone booth that fits in your pocket.

The cell phone itself can be seen in all its glory in the accompanying pictures, but whats really worth reading is the story behind this small company who dreams to make it big. So if after going through the technical specifications, you really want to know the truth about the London calling cell phone then go on to read "The Story". Resembling an English telephone box, the unlocked tri-band GSM phone is quite something of a novelty. It features a 65k color TFT screen, full SMS and MMS functionality, polyphonic ringtones, and GPRS/WAP 2.0. You can set your wallpaper to display one of fifteen different iconic images from merry old England. Plus you can select from Rule Brittania, God Save the Queen, or one of twenty other ringtone melodies. London Calling measures 102mm by 43mm by 21 mm, and weighs approximately 100 grams. The "London Calling Mobile phone" shall cost something around 149$.

The Story:

The HandsetWelcome. Thank you for visiting the C&D Wireless website. C&D Wireless is an affiliate of Connor & Delaney, LLC.

C&D Wireless is an experiment in putting thought into action. What would happen if you took an idea for a product, and tried to make it real?

Without venture capital or investment bankers. Without an army of engineers or a state of the art research facility.
Without a manufacturing plant or a Fortune 500 distribution channel. Without a marketing budget, ad money, or even much of a development plan.

We decided to find out.

But why make a cell phone that looks like a phone booth? Because at C&D Wireless, we don't like conformity. When we started our company in 2005, we took a look around at many of the phones on the market, and we were reminded of Henry Ford's famous quote - "You can have your Model T in any color you like, as long as it's black." Maybe it's not quite that bad - you have choices when it comes to mobile phones: candybars, or clamshells. Colors? Sure - there's silver, with a touch of black. Or maybe you'd like your phone in black, with a dash of silver. Shiny pretty things with no soul.

Why does it have to be like that? We asked around. Some people told us that cell phones are a commodity, and that manufacturers have to sell millions of a particular phone just to make their money back. We can understand that - it takes millions of dollars a day just to turn on the lights every morning at most big companies. Not the kind of place you expect to see innovation - too risky.

We're not against big companies - look around our website, and you'll see some mobile phones that we think are pretty neat, that were made by some pretty big companies. We hope you appreciate these phones - we do, because we know what it takes to bring a unique new phone to the market, and we can just imagine how much harder it would be if we had the natural inertia of a big organization working against us, too.

The bigger question was this: Why does it have to be like that? We asked some other people, and got a slew of answers. Government regulations, carrier restrictions, manufacturing issues. All of the things that only big companies could tackle when bringing a product to market. But we're skeptics - when someone tells us you can't do something, our natural impulse is to say, why not?

So we did. We told them. We're going to make our own cell phone. Some people laughed and said it was impossible, it would cost millions. We don't have millions. Some people just gave us a polite smile and carefully edged towards the door - we were obviously crazy. But the gauntlet was down, and we had to try. We quit our day jobs, moved down to the basement, and started learning about things like radio frequencies, product distribution, and plastic injection molding.

You know what? It hasn't been easy. Some of the doubters have been right. But day by day, we got up, took a good hard look at the obstacles we faced, and we figured out a way around them. And we took the cell phone that we dreamed about and made it real. We hope you like it - yeah, we hope you like it so much that you stop reading right now and click that little shopping cart button in the upper-right hand corner.

But even if it doesn't move you like it moved us, we hope you've enjoyed reading our story. We hope that you remember our story the next time someone tells you something is impossible. And we hope that you go right ahead and ignore them just like we did. Because while we may not get rich from this little phone, we are infinitely richer for the experience.
